Position Summary:
The Communications Director is directly responsible for developing and implementing the messaging and media strategy of Green For All, including creating a communications plan to advance Green For All’s agenda, win legislative victories and build a movement.
Successful candidates will be values driven, self-motivated, detail oriented, resourceful, and have experience in communications, politics, advocacy and organizing. They will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a keen sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Develop, articulate, and oversee implementation of a strategic plan for communications.
- Identify opportunities for organizational growth and lead strategies to take advantage of these opportunities, including internal systems and processes.
- Create programs to support the communications capacity of partner organizations, including training spokespeople and developing materials (e.g. talking points) to support their efforts.
Content Development
- Design, plan and execute Green for All’s brand and messaging.
- Provide written content and oversight in crafting press-releases, brochures, promotions, newsletters, website content and outreach campaigns.
- Supervise content contributors, writers, copy editors, as needed.
Media Relations
- Forge meaningful partnerships with a wide range of local and national media; build increasing coverage of G4A.
- Manage media relations (inflow and outreach) and ensure message consistency in press, print and TV.
- Arrange special events that may facilitate media coverage of issues relevant to the goals of the organization.
Marketing
- Develop compelling marketing strategy, media channels and marketing collateral to engage activists, policy makers, practitioners, business, labor leaders, community leaders, community groups and the general public in Green For All's mission.
- Implement effective collaboration with public influencers.
- Optimize online marketing channels.
Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build and lead a talented, experienced staff.
- Develop and manage a marketing budget, including collateral development, outreach and promotion, staff and operations; ensure most effective use of resources.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to create marketing and communications strategies to support their goals.
Other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university with a degree in communications, public relations, energy, environment, public policy, economics, urban planning, labor relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years experience working on strategic communications, public affairs, and/or advocacy efforts.
- Ability to direct strategic campaigns and conceive core messages that drive marketing objectives in the not-for-profit or private sector.
- Experience in market analysis, strategy, and management of marketing campaigns.
- Experience developing effective collateral and promotional materials.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong management skills and experience.
- National travel frequently.
- Be available on nights and weekends if necessary.
- Organized and flexible.
- Capacity to work independently and also to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
- Demonstrated success in an entrepreneurial setting, with the ability to think strategically while executing tactically within a resource-constrained environment.
- Experience at a non-profit public policy organization, on a campaign, or Capitol Hill is desirable.

Start Date: As soon as possible.
Compensation: Full-time, commensurate with experience, excellent benefits package.
