Position Summary:
The Research Director is directly responsible for developing and implementing the publication strategy of Green For All, including building strategic partnerships and creating a strategic research plan to advance Green For All’s agenda and win legislative victories.
Successful candidates will be values driven, self-motivated, detail oriented, resourceful, and have experience in politics, advocacy and organizing. They will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a keen sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design and conduct research projects, using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Write position papers, reports, briefing papers, and articles on findings of research projects.
- Brief local, state and national policy makers and partner organizations on research findings and policy recommendations.
- Work with partner organizations in strengthening their own research capabilities.
- Provide research guidance to other Green For All staff members and affiliated organizations.
Other duties as needed and assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university with a degree in energy, environment, public policy, economics, urban planning, labor relations, or related field.
- 3-5 years experience in research/advocacy in one or (preferably) more of the following policy areas: energy, environment, economic development, workforce development, and anti-poverty.
- Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills.
- Familiarity with basic economic and demographic data sources.
- Demonstrated writing ability for both an academic and a popular audience.
- Ability to interface with public, and wide range of labor, community, public policy organizations and elected officials.
- A history of developing and writing successful reports and publications.
- Management skills and experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Availability to work long hours; be available on nights and weekends if necessary.
- Organized and flexible.
- Ability to travel.
- Proven capacity to work independently and also to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
- Commitment to the goals of Green For All.
- Experience at a non-profit public policy organization is a plus.
