The Louisiana Green Corps is weatherizing homes - and rapping about it. The corps (which collaborated with Green For All during the Green Jobs Now national day of action last year) teamed up with Alliance for Affordable Energy to create a song and music video: Going Green.
In the video, Corps members insulate, caulk, and swap out light bulbs at local residents' homes, as they rap about the process.
The 14-week program targets at-risk youth and readies the students for apprenticeships or entry-level positions while providing the skilled workforce needed to help rebuild New Orleans with energy efficient housing.
The Louisiana Green Corps is part of the Conservation Corps of Greater New Orleans (CCGNO), whose partners train up to 800 court-involved youth each year.
