4. NEWS: Local Advocates push to improve state Weatherization plans by May 12th deadline
For the past three weeks local green job advocates have worked to
improve state Weatherization plans across the country. People have
testified or submitted public comments toward a Green Recovery For All
in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and California. Our
primary recommendations on these Weatherization plans due May 12th are:
- Use the added weatherization capacity to improve the quantity and quality of jobs created
- Develop more robust career pathways for workers to gain additional skills training and connections to careers in the building trades
- Bundle weatherization work in specific areas in order to create economies of scale
- Allow for weatherization of multi-family housing, which will create more jobs and allow for larger energy savings
Stay tuned next week for more Recovery news and resources including info related to the EECBG deadline of May 26th and an upcoming conference call the week of May 18th.
