'Green Is The New Black' Symposium Offers Solutions for a Sustainable Planet

This afternoon, the Amour J. Blackburn Center will be home to Green is the New Black, a Symposium for Young African-American Adults and the Green Economy.

This afternoon, the Amour J. Blackburn Center will be home to Green is the New Black, a Symposium for Young African-American Adults and the Green Economy. The symposium, hosted by Green for All and Howard University, will honor the contributions that people of African decent have made in the fight for a more sustainable planet. Green For All is a national organization committed to bettering the lives of Americans through a clean energy economy.  

During the opportunities fair event from 3p.m to 5p.m. organizations such as D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility, National Audubon Society, DC EcoWomen and The Nature Conservatory will offer students various opportunities such as jobs and internships as well as opportunities for advocacy."Dozens of green businesses, non-profits and a series of inspiring speakers will be at Howard University for the Green is the New Black symposium," said Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green For All. "Students should come out and learn about opportunities for jobs in the green economy and ways to get involved."
