Group participates in 9/11 community cleanup

Murfreesboro residents joined thousands across the country for a national day of service and remembrance Friday. The event was part of Green The Block, a campaign directed by Green For All and the Hip Hop Caucus to educate and mobilize low-income communities and communities of color to ensure voice and stake in the clean-energy economy.

Murfreesboro residents joined thousands across the country for a national day of service and remembrance Friday.

The event was part of Green The Block, a campaign directed by Green For All and the Hip Hop Caucus to educate and mobilize low-income communities and communities of color to ensure voice and stake in the clean-energy economy. Murfreesboro Community Organizers is a member organization of the Green The Block Coalition.

Participants in the event picked up litter in the Patterson Park area, and spoke to local residents about the day of service. Information about Green The Block was given, and the importance of the green economy for renewal in America. Volunteers remembered the victims of Sept. 11, and reflected on honoring their memory through service.
