Today, the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act (H.R. 5019) passed the House by a vote of 246 to 161. The bill, designed to create jobs fast by making American homes more energy-efficient, will save consumers money on their electric bills and kick start our hard-hit construction industry.
The statement, from Green For All CEO Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, follows:
“With bi-partisan support, today’s passage of Home Star demonstrates that it is the right investment for the country at the right time. Energy-efficiency incentives are fast but efficient ways to improve the health, wealth, and well-being of our most vulnerable communities and provide pathways into prosperity for American workers.
“We applaud Representatives Markey, Welch, Ehlers and Cardoza for championing this legislation. Because of their leadership, and the steadfast commitment of Representatives Rush and Lee, our country is closer to a clean-energy future filled with good, green jobs.
“We look forward to working with our partners in the Senate towards a swift vote and immediate implementation.”
