Qualified Green Instructors/Community Colleges

What resources are available to locate qualified Green Instructors for manufacturing, installation, etc.?

Our conversations in Kentucky have been around the various certification programs available nationally (BPI, RESNET, etc).  Until we have clarified which standard to use, it is hard to talk about "qualified" green instructors (qualified for what?) Has anyone else gone through this process of deciding which certification standard to go with, and care to share the though process?

I work for a small community college in Kansas. We are developing curriculum for our Energy Rater Program that we will begin offering soon. Our goal is to become a RESNET certified training facility. We have been told that it is extremely hard to become certified through RESNET. To my knowledge, most RESNET training classes are held by privately owned business and industry. There aren't any RESNET training classes being held within the community college setting. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on this subject? My email address is [email protected]

We are also looking into offering a wind energy program and are looking to possibly partner with a wind energy company. We have a spacious campus just outside of town that would be perfect to place a wind turbine on for training purposes. If anyone has a contact that they would be willing to share that would be awesome!

Thanks!

Ms. Bosch,

I am a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Business Analyst, a certified Inspector with the DOE Weatherization Assistance Program, and a trainer with Building Science Academy (BSA).  BPI (www.bpi.org) has a nationally recognized certification for Building Analyst (Energy Auditors), as well as suite of related certifications (heating professionals,  contractor, etc.).  BSA is a BPI Affiliate and we offer training in all of the BPI certifications, as well as other relevant training.  We use a time tested curriculum to train our students, and we have a very high pass rate on our written and field tests.

BSA has made proposals to several Michigan colleges that have similar goals.  We are confident that we will be able to help them reach their goal.

I strongly recommend that you consider BPI and BSA.  Please feel free to contact me if I can be of service.
