DOL - Green Jobs Training Grants
Information on the Department of Labor's green jobs training grants.
On June 24, the Department of Labor (DOL) released grant guidelines for the following green jobs training grants totaling $500 million:
- $150 million for Pathways Out of Poverty Grants that integrate training and supportive services into cohesive programs that will help target populations find pathways out of poverty and into economic self‐sufficiency through employment in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
- $190 million for State Energy Sector Partnerships and Training: workforce development that targets the needs of a specific industry sector and is designed and implemented by a range of institutions and groups working collaboratively, including community and faith‐based organizations, business and industry groups, educational institutions such as community and technical colleges, the public workforce system, labor‐ management partnerships, and others. Grant funds awarded under this SGA will be used to provide training, job placement, and related activities that reflect a comprehensive statewide energy sector strategy.
- $5 million for Green Capacity Building for organizations to provide training for entry‐level positions leading to career pathways and/or additional training in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
- $50 million for State Labor Market Information Improvement- to collect, analyze, and disseminate labor market information, and to enhance the labor exchange infrastructure for careers within the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
- $100 million for Energy Training Partnerships that provide training and placement services for workers that prepare them to enter the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries, as well as green occupations within other industries.

The boldly inclusive approach to building a green economy-as outlined in the grant guidelines-is precisely what Green For All has been fighting for, ever since we worked with Congress to pass the Green Jobs Act in 2008. We thank Secretary Solis for her leadership, and for the Department of Labor's commitment to lifting people out of poverty and including disadvantaged people in the benefits of a better economy.
