College Ambassadors
At Green For All, we know that if we are truly committed to building an inclusive green economy from the ground up, we must invest in leadership (current and future) in and from communities of color. The GFA College Ambassador program supports the leadership development of students on Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) campuses who are committed to their community and environment. 2013/2014 GFA College Ambassador Training
We launched our third Ambassador class with the “Ambassador Academy.” The Academy prepared our Ambassadors to work toward real change on their campus over the course of their school year. We work with students to develop plans as varied as instituting school green fees or starting community gardens to advocating for mass transit and establishing farmers markets on campus. The training took place at a LEED Platinum facility run by the organization Southface. Over the course of three days, we focused on the legacy of African Americans as stewards of the environment and activists in the community, explored the various issues facing our communities and explored solutions that students and community members can take leadership on.
